Coordinated by the Plan Asia Regional office, this regional evaluation presents the overall effectiveness of the existing community-based child protection mechanisms (CBCPMs) that are supported by Plan in the Asia region. These CBCPMs have been and are being developed in order to help respond to risks, mitigate their effects, and prevent children’s exposure to them. This report also examines how these mechanisms have contributed to improved protection of children from all forms of violence.
Although Plan has found its CBCPMs to be increasingly effective in preventing and responding to different forms of violence against children, there are many ways in which these programmes can be improved. From its experience and research, Plan accompanies this evaluation with a series of key recommendations for ensuring better effectiveness and success when developing and implementing CBCPMs.
