Towns and cities are a major refuge for internally displaced persons. Yet, urban settings present a series of challenges for these populations, including difficulties accessing housing, basic services, and education. These issues stem from a variety of different reasons, such as discrimination, lack of documentation, financial barriers, amongst others.
This policy brief presents governments and other relevant local actors with information on the most significant challenges internally displaced children face in urban areas. Most importantly, it presents a series of recommendations on how these problems can be overcome through the implementation of specific policies and services.
