Promotion and protection of human rights: human rights questions, including alternative approaches for improving the effective enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms

Presented to the United Nations General Assembly by the Secretary-General on behalf of the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression, Frank La Rue, this report looks at the child’s right to freedom of expression and speech as proposed by the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The Special Rapporteur calls for greater focus from the international community and States on children’s right to freedom of expression and access to information, while noting with concern the adoption of various restrictive measures allegedly aimed at protecting children from harmful information.
