This book draws on Save the Children’s experiences with rights-based approaches in East and South-East Asia and to some extent on work in South Asia and the Pacific. Save the Children has promoted rights-based approaches through training workshops, programme reviews, discussions, documents and practical programme experimentation. All of this work is based on a firm commitment to human rights and the fundamental principles of universality, indivisibility, accountability and participation. In this publication, Save the Children Sweden presents a number of articles on how a rights-based approach can be applied in some areas of practical work. This book has been written primarily for staff working for NGOs and their partners, United Nations organisations, donors and governments.
