Save the Children Uganda

To contribute to the improvement of care for small and sick newborns, Save the Children in Uganda is implementing the Saving Women and Premature Babies (SWAP) project (Nov 2021 – Nov 2025) in five selected hospitals in the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area in partnership with the Ministry of Health (MOH), Kampala Capital City Authority, district local governments of Mukono and Wakiso, Vayu Global Health Foundation, E-Wall Technologies, and other partners. SWAP works to improve the quality of care for mothers (particularly those likely to deliver premature/low birthweight babies), and small and sick newborns (SSNBs) by supporting the provision and institutionalization of evidence-based, life-saving interventions in selected facilities. This brief shares key promising project results from project start through December 2023.
