Global Initiative to End All Corporal Punishment of Children

Prohibiting and eliminating all corporal punishment is key for children with disabilities, who are more likely to experience violence from adults: violent punishment by their parents, teachers, carers, and others. Children with disabilities are at increased risk of experiencing corporal punishment and it is therefore imperative that states outlaw corporal punishment of children in all settings.

This brief presents the international laws that require prohibition of corporal punishment as well as a review of research that show how children with disabilities are particularly vulnerable to corporal punishment.
