This report provides analysis for the key findings from UNESCO’s Education for All Global Monitoring Report, which reviews the cost of meeting key targets of the post-2015 education agenda. The main findings show that the estimated cost of attaining these goals in education is much greater than was originally estimated.
The report reviews the ways in which this will require more explicit commitments from governments and donors to contribute in fulfilling the post-2015 education agenda. Many low and lower middle income countries are unlikely to have the resources necessary to increase their public education expenditure to the levels required to cover the cost of the targets. Aid will thus continue to play a significant role in enabling countries to meet the targets.
