PowerPoint presentation that is part of the session materials for “the Training Manual Children without Appropriate Care for Asia and the Pacific” published by Save the Children Child Protection Initiative (CPI). This presentation, pertaining to Session 2 of the Training Manual, gives an overview of the issues relating to how children without appropriate care are defined and the need for the root causes of their care issues to be addressed within the national context. It also looks at the reasons for a lack of appropriate parental care and the required balance between services and care placements in order to respond at the care system level.
The training is targeted at policy makers, professionals and para-professionals who are already working on programs to support children without appropriate care, or who may begin work in this area. The Training Manual and accompanying Participant’s Manual on Children without Appropriate Care for Asia and the Pacific, are available at Save the Children’s Resource Centre.
