In 2009, Save the Children lobbied 10 Downing Street to meet the government’s promise to end child poverty. Children from London to Glasgow were provided with video cameras to give other people – including MPs and policy-makers – an insight into what it’s like growing up in deprived communities. Save the Children teamed up with some of the UK’s best-known companies and with highly motivated groups of young people to tackle poverty at the grassroots and inspire change. And, as the recession hit, emergency funds went to families who needed them most.
