The Mother and Child Cash Transfer Plus (MCCT+) Programme in Sudan, launched by UNICEF in 2021, provides regular cash assistance to vulnerable pregnant women and lactating mothers. The programme aims to enhance social protection by integrating cash transfers with health, nutrition, and protection services. Operating in nine localities in Red Sea and Kassala states, the MCCT+ has reached over 51,000 women and benefitted nearly 310,000 household members. Post-distribution monitoring indicates high satisfaction with the cash amount, improved food variety, and positive health outcomes. Despite challenges such as long waiting times and access to essential goods, the programme continues to support household autonomy and financial stability.
