Por un Periodismo no Sexista: Pautas para comunicar desde una perspectiva de género en Chile

Since 2008, the Regional Bureau for Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (OREALC / UNESCO Santiago) through its Programme of Communication and Information, has undertaken various efforts to move towards a more inclusive journalism from a gender perspective. As part of the UNESCO World Campaign “Women Make the News”, a study was conducted to evaluate the mainstreaming of gender perspectives in teaching in journalism schools. This was part of UNESCO‘s sustained effort to mainstream gender in their global action, in particular, work in communications.

On this occasion, OREALC / UNESCO Santiago, near the UNESCO-Universidad Diego Portales “Media and Citizen Participation”, the Association of Journalists and Freedom of Expression Program of the Institute of Communication and Image (ICER) of University of Chile, made available to the community of journalists and communications professionals publication “For non-sexist journalism: guidelines for communicating from a gender perspective”. This work is the result of the commitment of these institutions to overcome gender inequalities in society and is indebted to a strong tradition of different organizations and researchers concerned with these matters.
