Philippine National Implementation Guidelines for Child Friendly Spaces in Emergencies

According to the Global Climate Risk Index, the Philippines is considered the fourth most vulnerable country in the world to climate change and to be one of the most disaster-prone regions. After any disaster or emergency, children are exceptionally vulnerable to abuse, exploitation, violence and neglect. Child protection in emergencies (CPiE) is therefore crucial.

Child Friendly Spaces (CFS) are one example of a CPiE intervention; they are a way of providing psychosocial support to children and communicating child protection messages with communities, families, children and authorities. These CFS implementation guidelines for the Philippines link with existing guidelines on Camp Management and Women Friendly Space, as well as being informed by the global Guidelines for Child Friendly Spaces and the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action.
