Save the Children Sweden
Children from families with poor economies exist in every municipality in Sweden. There are more in some municipalities than in others. It can depend on their parents’ unemployment status, their debts, or on a large industry that has laid off all of its employees – there can be more than one reason.
In connection with the publication of Save the Children Sweden’s yearly report on child poverty in 2013, this reportage was produced: ‘On the Agenda – A reportage of local actions against child poverty’. Much of children’s welfare is organized by the municipalities and it is therefore of extreme importance that municipalities actively engage in protecting children who are vulnerable due to their economic conditions at home.
This publication explores how some municipalities have chosen to address issues of child poverty – the successes as well as the areas that need improvement.
