Eurochild has produced an assessment document to the European Commission Recommendation on child poverty, entitled “Investing in children: breaking the cycle of disadvantage”, which was adopted on 20 February 2013 as part of the Social Investment Package for Growth and Cohesion.
This assessment document aims to:
– unwrap the Recommendation’s principles and translate them into policies and practices;
– highlight opportunities for civil society organisations, including Eurochild members, to act at national and regional policy making level, using the tools and mechanisms available through the EU to influence and persuade governments where they can make the greatest difference to children´s lives.
The Recommendation provides an opportunity to apply pressure to national and regional governments to prioritise child poverty and well-being as part of national anti-poverty strategies.
