Save the Children

The Civil Society Strengthening Programme (PASC) program developed by Save the Children’s Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean between 2017 and 2021 has been guided by the Sustainable Development Goals. The program seeks to change laws, policies and practices so that they contribute to eliminating violence against children and adolescents, in addition to obtaining more and better public investment for children. The program has been working in 10 countries in the region, in partnership with 18 civil society organizations.

Organizational Capacity Development (OCD) is one of the components of the Civil Society Strengthening Programme (PASC) and aims to strengthen civil society organizations and enhance their institutional sustainability through a process led and adopted by the partner organizations. During the program’s implementation, 15 organizations have participated in organizational capacity building actions.

The organizational capacity building plans are the result of a self-assessment exercise carried out by the organizations in a participatory and inclusive manner. Afterwards, each organization’s management team prioritizes the organizational areas on which they will focus throughout the program.

Case studies of the organizations Fundasil from El Salvador and Paz y Esperanza from Peru were prepared to document the results following support to strengthen both partners’ organizational capacities from 2018 to 2021.
