Save the Children UK
An estimated 3.5 million children live below the poverty line in the UK and 1.6 million live in severe poverty, dramatically affecting their life chances. This annual report tells how Save the Children’s UK programme worked to end child poverty in 2010. The report points out areas where children’s lives have improved through Save the Children’s programmes that have helped families, improved children’s performance at school, and driven through fundamental policy changes. It addresses the issue of economic vulnerability among children in the UK, and urges the government to act and to meet its obligations under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).
