Supplementary report to Nepal’s second periodic report on the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child which concerns the adverse impact of the armed conflict between the Government of Nepal and the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoists) on the enjoyment of the rights of the child in the country. An estimated 305 children have been killed from February 1996 to February 2005 according to this report, and children and schools have been specifically targeted both by the Maoists and the security forces. The violations against children in situations of armed conflict must be taken into account while examining the implementation of the Convention of the Rights of the Child in Nepal.
