The report emphasizes that ending violence against women and children is a top priority in Tanzania due to its harmful effects on society and development. Violence diverts resources, hinders economic growth, and obstructs key national and international goals, including the SDGs, the African Agenda 2063, and Tanzania’s Development Vision 2025.
Over the past five years, Tanzania has implemented the National Plan of Action to End Violence Against Women and Children (NPAVAWC 2017/18 – 2021/22), focusing on both prevention and response. The new plan, NPA VAWC II (2024/25 – 2028/29), builds on past progress, incorporating lessons learned, achievements, and emerging issues.
The report calls for strong commitment from all stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of the new plan, aiming to create a Tanzania where women and children live free from violence and their rights are fully protected.
