My Safety My Wellbeing curriculum is to equip the girls with key knowledge and skills they need to help mitigate, prevent and respond to GBV. This would happen when providing a space for girls, where they feel comfortable to talk about the issues that affect them. It is a 13-week course that gradually prepares and equips the girls with a set of skills, based around communication, decision making, creative and critical thinking whilst also building their confidence and self-esteem. The curriculum encompasses 26 sessions in total that usually take place twice a week for 2 hours (including breaks). The curriculum helps girls to develop positive coping mechanisms and establish a secure network of friends and a support system in an interactive and fun way. “My Safety, My Wellbeing” groups a variety for components, such as informational sessions, a space to discuss topics that affect girls’ daily lives, it gradually empowers them to take the lead in sessions all while encouraging them to provide solutions to their own problems.
