This report provides the findings from an HEA assessment that sought to assess the impact on household livelihoods of multiple shocks in 2020 that included Covid 19 market closures; flood events due to exceptionally heavy rains in late 2019 and in May 2020; the effect of two waves of devastating locust swarms on crops in early 2020; and a predicted poor 2020 short rainy season. The analysis was done in 5 livelihood zones in Turkana county. The analysis found that during the lockdown, 1.06 million people faced a food and/or income deficit. The analysis also provides recommendations for response efforts, particularly around cash and safety net support.
