MPI Policy Brief: Demography and Migration: An outlook for the 21st century

The Migration Policy Institute (MPI) produced this policy brief, September 2013, on the economic and demographic disparities that influence and are influenced by international migration and internal mobility.

The brief postulates that migration cannot mitigate all of the labor market challenges and economic disparities of the coming years and decades but smart migration, integration, and non-discrimination policies will have substantial implications. Future migration policies, writes the MPI, should aim at reducing the direct and indirect costs of migration while maximizing the possible benefits of migration.
