This case study on state response in Mozambique, is the first one of a series of case study on the role of affected state in humanitarian action. It investigates to what extent the state of Mozambique has assumed responsibilities for protecting and caring for its citizens in the aftermath of decades of colonial rule, civil war and famine, and after major natural disasters. It provides a background on these conflicts and natural disasters, along with some conclusions.
