Save the Children

As a result of Save the Children’s advocacy work with Bangladesh Bank, the central Bank introduced a financial product in 2014 to enable working and street children to open basic savings accounts. This briefing paper provides evidence of the best practice that shows that providing children with access to the formal banking system is very effective in children’s lives.

Street Children Banking was facilitated by Save the Children’s project “Strengthening Children banking Initiatives with mainstream banking” with eight partner organizations to establish the mainstream banking rights for working and street children and to empower children to attain their rights as citizens.

This publication is part of a collection of 8 leaflets on Policy, Rights and Governance programming in Bangladesh:
