All migrant children, irrespective of their legal standing, age, gender or health status, have the right to access protection and humanitarian assistance. Because of their specific vulnerabilities, unaccompanied and separated children require particular and urgent protection. To improve the protection and humanitarian assistance for children on the move, it is necessary to meaningfully engage and provide leadership opportunities for girls and boys to identify protection risks, but also to find and implement solutions.
This guidance is intended to support humanitarian workers in Europe working with unaccompanied and separated children.
