Local organizations, and particularly women’s organizations, have been preventing and responding to gender-based violence (GBV) in emergencies for decades. Despite their extensive experience and skills, they face a wide range of challenges when delivering aid to women and girls. These range from a lack of sustainable funding and operational capacity, to obstacles in partnering with international non-governmental organizations (INGOs).
This brief shares key insights from the International Rescue Committee’s work with local and women’s organizations to respond to GBV in emergencies.
