In recent years, localization of aid, partnership and capacity building have become increasingly important within the humanitarian sector. This has led many international actors to reflect on their own organizational structure and their approach to partnerships and capacity strengthening, and how these may need to adapt in response to the increased emphasis on localization. It was within this context that Islamic Relief conducted the project ‘Strengthening Response Capacity and Institutional Development for Excellence (STRIDE)’, aiming to improve the efficiency of Islamic Relief’s humanitarian response in the Asia region.

Building on document reviews and interviews with staff from STRIDE, this report presents the successes, challenges and learnings from the project. It also presents the broader implications of the project as well as ways forward.
