We have made a deliberate choice to embrace localisation, not just because it’s morally right, but also because it amplifies the effectiveness and reach of our programs through collaboration with our national and local partners. Recall the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 – who was on the frontlines? And late in 2020, just before the worst drought in 40 years struck ASAL counties – who stepped up?
Local partners are consistently the first and last responders in crises, armed with a deep understanding of the local context. Their insights and ability to respond are rooted in their community knowledge. To succeed, we must build strong partnerships with respect and consideration. It’s presumptive to think we have all the answers. So, how do we foster these partnerships for maximum impact?
