Save the Children Philippines
The Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices (KAP) Follow-up Study under Save the Children Philippines’ Power-Up Girls (PUG) Program examines how families and communities sustain positive changes in promoting gender equality, child protection, and adolescent well-being. Conducted in Caloocan, Malabon, and Navotas (CaMaNa) and Sarangani, the assessment reveals encouraging progress in communication and gender awareness but notes that traditional norms, stigma, and inconsistent practice still hinder transformation. Families show growing openness to discussing sensitive topics like sexuality and child rights, though fathers and boys remain less engaged. Overall, attitudes improved significantly (from 69% to 73%), but translating knowledge into everyday action remains a challenge. The study recommends practical, participatory approaches, such as hands-on learning, youth-led initiatives, caregiver co-facilitation, and supportive environments, to deepen understanding, reduce stigma, and make behavior change sustainable across families and communities.
