Letter of support from the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child: ‘A world without violence’

A statement of support from the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child to the side event ‘A world without violence against children’   http://resourcecentre.savethechildren.se/start/child-protection-post-2015,   held in the framework of the 8th session of the inter-governmental Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals (3-7 February 2014). This side event, co-hosted by the Government of Canada and the Government of Paraguay, took place on 5 February 2014 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, and was co-organized by six child-focused agencies that came together to advocate for children’s issues in the post-2015 development agenda – ChildFund Alliance, Plan International, Save the Children, SOS Children’s Villages International, UNICEF and World Vision International. The Committee’s statement urges Governments “to make the protection of children from all forms of violence a high priority goal on the post-2015 agenda, as an issue of utmost international as well as national importance”.
