There is a growing number of children and young migrants arriving in France unaccompanied. For these young migrants, having their minority recognized through age assessment procedures conducted by the government is important to guarantee they will have access to needed protection. However, for some teenagers, the recognition of their minority is a journey full of pitfalls, and often one that lands them on the streets.
In this report, Médecins Sans Frontières highlights the challenges and barriers that unaccompanied minors face upon entering France. Through recommendations, this report aims to encourage institutional actors to take concrete measures to improve the reception, accommodation, and care of unaccompanied minors in France.
