Foreign investment and economic development in Vietnam’s 325 industrial zones created nearly 3 million jobs by the end of 2016. This resulted in an influx of young migrants (ages 15-20) moving from rural areas to urban industrial zones seeking better employment opportunities. Although young workers account for 44% of the workforce in industrial zones, they often end up working in the informal sector where their human rights are heavily violated. This due to the lack of education and work experience.

As a response to this the Skills to Succeed (S2S) program piloted a program for youth working in factories that aimed to build their capacity to access decent work opportunities in Vietnam.

This document provides an overview in regards to the youth working program in Vietnam.
