Learning democracy. The experience of the School Municipality model in Peru

The document analyses the development of school council municipalities in Peru, the difficulties encountered and the progress achieved. Although the Peruvian Ministry of Education has adopted this model as compulsory for all schools, not all the schools have such councils. In due time, though, it is hoped that all school children should at least theorically benefit from this school forum for pupil participation, the underlying idea being to use the schools to carry out an important socialization process aimed at preparing citizens for the future.
