Learning Brief: Strengthening Malnutrition Services at Community Health Centers in Sikasso, Mali

This learning brief focuses on the health worker capacity strengthening component of the USAID Nutrition and Hygiene project (Projet Nutrition et Hygiène-PNH). Though largely a community-level social and behavior change project, USAID/PNH aimed to strengthen malnutrition prevention and treatment services at community health centers in six districts in Mali’s Sikasso Region. This effort complemented community activities in two districts (Bougouni and Sikasso) and served as the main strategy for the other four districts (Kadiolo, Kignan, Koutiala and Niena) in the Region. The content can be used by new projects or proposal writers to design projects.

 

Cette fiche technique porte sur l’approche intégrée du projet visant à améliorer la nutrition chez les femmes enceintes et allaitantes et les enfants de moins de deux ans. Le Projet Nutrition et Hygiène (USAID/PNH) a été conçu sur l’approche des 1 000 premiers1 jours pour soutenir les accompagnants des enfants dans la communauté. Le soutien consiste à encourager les accompagnants des enfants à cultiver et à nourrir leurs familles avec des aliments riches en nutriments, à améliorer les pratiques d’hygiène et à encourager les comportements visant la prise en charge précoce de la malnutrition.
