In 2009, Save the Children launched the global campaign EVERY ONE to prevent the unnecessary deaths of children under 5 and to play a part in achieving Millennium Development Goal 4, which aims to reduce the under 5 mortality rate by two thirds by 2015. The campaign should benefit everyone in every region and every community in China. Save the Children believes it is now crucial that world leaders in both wealthy and developing countries are held to account for their efforts to put in place the money and solutions to save these lives and tackle under-nutrition, paying special attention to the plight of newborns who continue to die at staggering numbers.
