This report argues that cash transfers – predictable, regular transfers of cash to individuals or households by governments – can play a critical role in accelerating reductions in child mortality. The evidence presented suggests that well-designed cash transfer programmes can help tackle many of the determinants of child mortality, most immediately by increasing access to healthcare and reducing malnutrition.
