CUBIC, The Center for Utilizing Behavioral Insights for Children

As a part of the Vaccination Uptake (VAXUP) project in Kenya in 2021, CUBIC, in partnership with the Busara Center for Behavioral Economics and Common Thread, developed The Little Jab Book: Kenya Edition – a set of behavioral interventions to increase Covid-19 vaccination uptake among the Kenyan population. With a grant from CDP (Center for Disaster Philanthropy), we tested specific interventions from The Little Jab Book, aimed at increasing Covid-19 vaccine acceptance and uptake in Nairobi’s urban slums. The study showed how behaviorally-informed strategies, including myth-debunking and social norm nudges led to an increase in vaccination uptake. Key findings from this program were used to influence national government policy.
