The document summarises the Keeping Girls in School (KGIS) programme which operated in Malawi. It involved two core components:

  1. Delivering predictable cash transfers of MK 5,000 using a mobile money mechanism to caregivers of girls attending Standard 7 and 8 across 10 districts and
  2. Improving the school experience and environment for adolescent girls in the same schools

The combination of these two components aimed overall to increase the number of girls who completed their primary school education. As the brief shows, the project proved to be highly successful in keeping girls in school.
