This booklet and accompanying leaflet provides recommendations for development NGOs to enhance inclusivity for Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, Gender Expression, and Sex Characteristics (SOGIESC) minorities. It emphasizes the importance of integrating SOGIESC considerations into program design, organizational structures, and safeguarding practices. It outlines practical steps for engaging SOGIESC minorities, including conducting context analyses, using gender-neutral language, and establishing partnerships with local SOGIESC organizations. It also highlights the need for capacity-building through SOGIESC training and the inclusion of SOGIESC norms in policy frameworks.
The findings are based on a master’s thesis research conducted at the University of British Columbia, focusing on the challenges and good practices of SOGIESC inclusion in international child rights organizations operating in Thailand. The paper aims to guide NGOs in creating more inclusive and supportive environments.
