This handbook helps teachers in South Sudan to understand child protection and their responsibility to identify, prevent and respond to child abuse, exploitation, violence and neglect. It also provides an overview of child protection legislation in Southern Sudan. This Handbook should be given to teachers after they have participated in a Child Protection training. There is a Child Protection Facilitator’s Guide that should be used to conduct the training. The Handbook can be used, however, as a reference for teachers, members of Parent Teacher Associations, and community based child protection groups who have not attended the training. Additionally, it can be used as a resource for other education program’s in countries affected by conflict who may conduct a similar training or develop a similar handbook. The definitions of abuse and how to identify, respond to, and prevent abuse could be used in any context
