Save the Children
Save the Children, as a child rights organization, recognizes that education is a fundamental human right and that the State is the key duty-bearer to protect, respect and fulfil children’s rights. Inclusive is not simply the placement of previously excluded children in school; it is a process of changing what is taught and how it is taught, assessed and valued, so that learners of all abilities can achieve their full potential.
This project brief presents the work being done by the ‘Soft Toys for Education’ campaign, supported by the IKEA Foundation. These projects recognize that vulnerable children must be reached early, for what happens in the first years of school has a profound impact on education success in later years. The projects apply different approaches to inclusion and the teams in participating countries share and learn together through cross-border knowledge networks. Read this brief to learn more about how Save the Children works to implement Inclusive Education programmes.
