Save the Children (SCI) in partnership with St John of God Hospitaller Services (SJOG) and M’mbelwa District Council implemented the Inclusive Early Childhood Care and Development (IECCD) project to ensure equitable access to quality and integrated early childhood care and development services, particularly for marginalized children. The project ran from March 1, 2022, to February 28, 2025, and targeted 9,815 children aged 0-6 years (4,665 boys and 5,150 girls) in three Traditional Authorities (TAs) Kampingo Sibande, M’zikubola, and M’mbelwa—in Mzimba South Education District, Malawi.
The goal of the project was to ensure increased equitable access to integrated, quality, and inclusive early childhood care and development services, especially for children marginalized by gender, Ultra poverty, disabilities, and the effects of HIV and AIDS. The project also aimed to bolster capacities in delivering IECCD at household, community, district, and national levels. Furthermore, the project intended to enhance integrated case management to ensure improved delivery of ECCD services, as well as to elevate comprehensive nutrition-specific and sensitive community and facility-based services.
