The Protektim Pikinini Moa child protection project (2020–2025) significantly strengthened school‑based child safeguarding in the Solomon Islands. Through work in 40 schools, the initiative improved teacher practices, reduced violence, and enhanced community protection mechanisms. Baseline findings showed widespread physical and psychological punishment, with up to all girls and over one‑third of boys affected. By midline, violence had dropped sharply, and most students—92%—could identify a trusted adult for support. The project also empowered more than 1,500 children through safe school teams and child advocacy committees, increasing their confidence, rights awareness, and involvement in decision‑making. Teachers adopted more positive discipline, provincial child protection committees strengthened, and student‑led reporting led to prosecutions in serious abuse cases. Together, these changes contributed to safer school environments, stronger protection pathways, and greater child participation, demonstrating the impact of sustained, child‑centered, multisectoral action.
