Save the Children Lebanon
In response to the crisis in South Lebanon, Save the Children implemented a remote play-based curriculum aimed at fostering holistic learning and psychosocial resilience among crisis-affected children. This mixed-methods study assessed the intervention’s impact using SEL tools, focus groups, and surveys with children, caregivers, teachers, and stakeholders.
Findings revealed that the curriculum significantly enhanced children’s emotional expression, self-regulation, and peer interaction. Children reported high levels of joy and engagement, while caregivers observed improved behavior, increased confidence, and strengthened family bonds. Teachers and stakeholders highlighted the therapeutic role of play in supporting recovery and focus.
Despite challenges such as digital barriers and teacher readiness, enabling factors including culturally relevant content, inclusive design, and parental involvement contributed to the program’s success. Triangulation with a similar intervention in North Lebanon reinforced the value of play in crisis settings.
