Save the Children

There is a significant evidence gap in understanding how the drought induced by 2023-24 El Niño episode has specifically affected children and their families. This gap has made it difficult to advocate for resources beyond immediate food assistance. To address this critical need, Save the Children launched a comprehensive survey across Madagascar, Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, engaging directly with 908 children to understand their experiences as climate change intensifies these weather extremes. The series include the Full Report of the needs assessment, Annex of Recommendations, and fact sheets for Madagascar, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
