Save the Children International
The October 2011 edition of IMPACT focuses on Save the Children’s Child Protection work in Africa. This issue is particularly timely as the world marks the Universal Children’s Day on November 20, 2011, an annual event to reflect on the need and importance to continue working to protect children from violence, exploitation and all forms of abuse and neglect. It is hoped that the reader will be inspired by these stories from across Africa, which show that it is possible, for each one of us – individuals and organizations – to play a significant role, that could be life-changing. From communities standing up for their children, protecting them from harmful practices to individuals looking out for orphans and vulnerable children in their villages, every one of us can make a difference. In ensuring that children’s rights to health, education, protection, play, shelter are realized, we will be contributing to making the world, our communities, countries and regions – fit for children.
