Save the Children Egypt
This report summarizes findings from focus group discussions with 97 students in Minya Governorate, Egypt, assessing the impact of Save the Children’s reading and writing clubs, alongside social‑emotional learning (SEL) and mindfulness sessions. Students from Abu Qirqas and Mallawi districts reported improved literacy skills, greater enjoyment of school, and increased participation. Interactive activities—such as “Laughing Statues,” “Leader Says,” mind mapping, drawing, and mindfulness exercises—enhanced emotional regulation, focus, communication, and self‑expression. Students also demonstrated stronger social skills, better peer relationships, and greater self‑confidence. Many applied learned techniques (e.g., breathing exercises, mind maps) in daily life. Across all sites, students expressed a strong desire for the sessions to continue, highlighting their academic, social, and emotional benefits.
