Impact of the economic crisis on children – Conference report, 6-7 January 2009 Singapore

‘Impact of the Economic Crisis on Children in East Asia and the Pacific Islands Conference in Singapore’ held 6-7 January, 2009. The report summarises the Conference that gathered more than 150 academics, policy advisors, finance ministers and senior officials convened by UNICEF, the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National University of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. The key leaders shared lessons learned from the 1997-98 crisis and its impacts on child health, education, labour and family livelihoods, and explored the best options for mounting a robust response to the crisis.
