Since 2016, Trinidad and Tobago have experienced an influx of Venezuelans seeking to escape the worsening living conditions in their home country. Adapting to new countries will often be a challenge for migrants, and especially for migrant children. At the time of writing, the situation for migrant children in Trinidad and Tobago is deteriorating due to measures taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The objective of this analysis is to assess the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on the situation of migrant children in Trinidad and Tobago. In addition to this, the analysis explores the main challenges faced by migrant children in the country and presents recommendations for how these challenges can be mitigated.
