I luoghi che contano – Infanzia e adolescenza nelle periferie urbane

La ricerca prova a raccontare, in modo concreto, come il luogo in cui vivono bambini, bambine e adolescenti nelle grandi città italiane influenzi la loro crescita e le loro opportunità. Attraverso l’unione tra dati oggettivi e testimonianze dirette, lo studio approfondisce limiti e risorse dei contesti di crescita, evidenziando le disuguaglianze che segnano molti quartieri periferici e individuando le principali aree su cui intervenire.
Si propone una riflessione sull’importanza di costruire politiche urbane integrate e istituire presìdi socio-educativi nelle aree più vulnerabili delle città, per garantire un ecosistema di servizi e opportunità – sociali, educative, sanitarie, culturali, ambientali e sportive – a favore del benessere e dei diritti delle nuove generazioni.

This research report aims to provide a clear and grounded account of how the environments in which children and adolescents live in large Italian cities shape their development and opportunities. By combining robust data with firsthand accounts, the study examines both the challenges and the strengths of different living contexts. It sheds light on the inequalities affecting many peripheral neighborhoods and identifies key areas where action is needed.
It also offers a broader reflection on the importance of developing integrated urban policies and establishing socio-educational hubs in the most vulnerable areas of cities. The goal is to ensure a comprehensive ecosystem of services and opportunities—spanning social, educational, healthcare, cultural, environmental, and sports domains—to support the well-being and rights of younger generations.
