This paper explores the role of the private sector in humanitarian action in Kenya. Furthermore, it analyses the perceived benefits and negative impacts of private sector activity in support of people affected by crisis. Additionally, frameworks, structures and mechanisms through which the private sector is supporting emergency preparedness and response are identified, as well as how these may be enhanced for better future collaboration. Finally, the ways in which humanitarian-private sector partnerships can best stimulate economic growth in Kenya, and at the same protect humanitarian outcomes are investigated.
